Virginia "Ginny" Underwood

My name is Virginia (Ginny) Underwood, and I am a junior at The Catholic High School of Baltimore in Maryland. I am very interested in continuing my softball journey at the collegiate level, where I hope to challenge myself both academically and athletically. I began playing baseball at age five, until my freshman year of high school. Throughout my baseball career, I competed at various levels: coed recreational, coed tournaments, coed travel, and all-girls baseball. After COVID, I joined the DC Girls Baseball organization, where I traveled around the Country–Maryland, Kentucky, Arizona, New York, and Rhode Island–to compete with other skilled female athletes. I began playing softball in my freshman year at Chapelgate Christian Academy. There I made the Varsity softball team (among other sports), and I quickly took on leadership roles. As of now, I play travel softball with the Maryland Patriots.On the field, I am a utility player who primarily starts at shortstop or center field, but I have supported my teams at nearly every position (besides pitcher and catcher). As an athlete, I am highly receptive to feedback and determined to improve my performance. Whether I am at the gym, practices, games, or competing in other sports (including soccer, basketball, swimming, track, volleyball, and baseball), I strive to become the best version of myself. Throughout my athletic career I have developed discipline, encouragement, teamwork, leadership, and confidence, and I hope to continue strengthening these skills on a college team. Not only am I a hard worker on the field, but also in the classroom, where I challenge myself through all Honors and AP classes. I am very thankful for your time and consideration to learn about me.
